40,000 m² Curtain Wall Cleaning at Tahe Plaza: Wisson’s Aerial Cleaning Robot Tackles Complex Facade Geometry to Revitalize a Landmark

2026-05-15

Recently, Wisson’s ecosystem partner, Fuzhou Zhongchuang Technology, successfully completed a deep cleaning of 40,000 m² of curtain wall at Fuzhou’s landmark building, Tahe Plaza, using Wisson’s Orion AP3-S1 Pliabot® Aerial Tethered Cleaning System. Confronted with extremely stubborn stains left by three years without cleaning and a highly complex, irregular facade structure, the project team delivered outstanding performance in efficiency, safety, and environmental protection, earning high praise from the client and a one-time acceptance approval.

Fuzhou Tahe Plaza is the largest urban complex in the West Coast Economic Zone. As Fuzhou’s largest single shopping center, its distinctive futuristic design — featuring a “spaceship” and “diamond MALL” — has made it a signature landmark of the city. Located in the core urban area with heavy year‑round traffic and pedestrian flow, the building has long suffered from acid rain erosion, vehicle exhaust, and dust accumulation. Over the years, these have deposited a heavy layer of stubborn grime on the facade. Notably, when this project began, the building had not undergone any systematic cleaning for three full years. The glass curtain wall was covered with thick dust and hard‑to‑remove acid‑etched marks, severely diminishing its original luster and transparency.

At the same time, the building’s unique, irregular shape poses significant challenges for routine cleaning and maintenance. Its sci‑fi inspired, streamlined form incorporates a large number of complex spatial structures — for example, tilted diamond‑cut glass panels and intricate aluminum decorative trims. Conventional cleaning methods are not only inefficient but also leave many inaccessible blind spots. Moreover, due to the building’s location in a prime commercial area, the operational window is short, imposing extremely high demands on safety and efficiency.

In response, Fuzhou Zhongchuang Technology, in collaboration with Wisson’s Faronheat® team, developed a dedicated cleaning solution using the Orion AP3-S1 Pliabot® Aerial Tethered Cleaning System. During operation, the system’s core component — the AP3-P3 robot — leveraging its proprietary Pliabot® joints and tactile AI technology, demonstrated exceptional environmental adaptability and powerful cleaning capability:

**Unhindered by obstacles, ultra‑close operation:**

When faced with protruding decorative elements on the building’s outer skin, the AP3-P3 aerial cleaning robot, thanks to its intelligent active/passive adaptive balancing, can flexibly absorb unexpected collisions, resist airflow disturbances, and perform precise cleaning from close range and multiple angles. This ensures that high‑pressure water and cleaning agents reach the roots of stubborn deposits, thoroughly removing long‑accumulated grime and acid‑etch residues.

**Powerful and effective, breaking down stubborn stains:**

To tackle the extreme contamination after three years without cleaning, the AP3-P3 robot fully utilized the precise control enabled by its Pliabot® joints, combined with Wisson’s self‑developed AP‑P series eco‑friendly cleaning agents. This achieved efficient decontamination without any chemical damage to the glass. While delivering a “spotless, like‑new” result, the operation also minimized environmental impact, upholding green and low‑carbon principles.

**Safe and worry‑free, ensuring uninterrupted operation:**

In this ultra‑high‑altitude, large‑scale, complex cleaning task, the AP3-S1 system required no bulky scaffolding and no dangerous rope‑access “spider‑man” operations. The team planned a fine‑tuned flight path in advance and implemented strict aerial safety measures. The entire process avoided the mall’s daytime business peak hours, caused zero disturbance to the surroundings, and achieved a full exterior renewal of both podium and tower.

Through consecutive, intense, and highly efficient work by the project team, Fuzhou Tahe Plaza — this iconic landmark — underwent a complete “deep rejuvenation.” The previously dull, dust‑covered facade now shines again with brilliant colors, and the transparent glass curtain wall has recovered its bright clarity. The overall cleaning results fully met and even exceeded the mall property management’s expectations, and the project passed acceptance without any issues.
